Square Enix will not cut and paste with the sequel to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: the team already has some ideas on what it wants to change compared to the game released this year on PS5.
The Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy reached its second chapter at the beginning of the year and this introduced a series of innovations compared to the first game, such as an open map and new combined moves, as well as obviously many minigames and new types of activities secondary. The Square Enix team recently had their say on the new features they would like to include in the third remake of Final Fantasy 7 (which, remember, does not yet have an official name), talking about freedom and a new approach to the game world.

During a new episode of Inside Square Enix focused on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, battle director Teruki Endo revealed that he’s thinking about how to give players even more freedom , suggesting a further push towards an action-based combat system, a push that was already evident in the INTERmission expansion and Rebirth with the inclusion of the Precise Parry and the improvement of aerial combat.

However, Square Enix won’t just change the fights in the third part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Director Naoki Hamaguchi made a comment on the conclusion of the series, stating that he wanted to offer fans a different gaming experience from that of the previous two games, suggesting that the open map formula introduced in Rebirth will also be shaken up to offer something different .
Surely proposing new features to the structure will also be important, given that it will take many years before the third part arrives and proposing the exact same formula again would push fans to see the new game only as a copy of something old and outdated.
