What’s new compared to the PS2 classic?

As is obvious, the remake of Silent Hill 2 for PlayStation 5 and PC offers a completely renewed graphics sector that is in step with the times. For the occasion, Bloober Team used the latest generation graphics engine Unreal Engine 5 , appropriately seasoned with ray tracing effects. In our preview of Silent Hill 2 Remake we praised the excellent work done on the atmosphere and settings, without however failing to point out a certain woodiness in the animations, which we hope will be fixed in view of the launch.

In addition to the improved graphics, fans of the classic can also expect other new features, starting with the over-the-shoulder camera . Bloober Team has chosen to abandon the fixed views of the original to move the point of view behind James’ shoulders, in order to make the experience more immersive.

The combat system has also been updated : the steel tube and the gun are obviously present, but now James can aim with greater precision thanks to the crosshair mode and, if necessary, dodge enemy attacks.

Finally, there are larger settings with places and buildings that were once inaccessible or created specifically for the remake.
