Meanwhile, developer Gearbox Software is gearing up to launch its next big DLC for Risk of Rain 2, called Seekers of the Storm. In the new development diary, the team talked about new locations that we will be able to explore in the upcoming expansion. There will also be a crossover with Dead Cells, which will appear along with the new map Verdant Falls in the free Devotion update.
Risk of Rain 2 will receive a big free update and new DLC,Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm follows 2022’s Survivors of the Void expansion and will add new characters, levels, monsters, and more.
Seekers of the Storm will feature a total of six new stages, including everything from “ancient Lemurian temples” to “intense skirmishes on [unnamed new map]”, with plenty of secrets to uncover. Petrichor V is a wild and beautiful world that opens up new, unexplored areas for players.
One of these new areas is Shattered Abodes, a sprawling central plain and crater surrounded by areas of complex architecture to dodge and fight around. This means you’ll have to watch your step, although the winding paths and intermittent cover at each teleport location provide plenty of tactical options, especially if you’re using characters with high vertical mobility.
Seekers of the Storm does not yet have an exact release date, but the expansion is expected soon. To activate the add-on for all participants in the game, only one group member who has purchased the DLC will be required. However, players who do not purchase it will not be able to play as new characters or permanently unlock new items, logbook entries, and other content.
