I want Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree to recycle new bosses at least three times, seriously

ELDEN RING SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE: FIRST PATCH AVAILABLE MAJOR NERF COMING

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree will offer many new features, but probably like the base game it will recycle its bosses several times in order to fill the map and dungeons. Great, because that’s what I want.

Previews of Shadow of the Erdtree , the Elden Ring expansion scheduled for June 21st, are finally available. We are therefore just a few weeks away from our return to FromSoftware’s fantasy lands and the hope is that it will once again be an incredible experience.

We all hope to find a series of content, including weapons, bosses, situations and lore details that will satisfy us. Specifically, I already have in mind what I want from this expansion: new bosses repeated over and over again . Maybe even some old repeat bosses, why not.

Why do I want repeat bosses in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

I know what you’re thinking. “It’s clickbait, or it’s trolling. There will be a twist to explain that she doesn’t literally mean that she wants the bosses to be recycled multiple times in the expansion.” No sorry. I want exactly this. I want to explore and find “Wrathful Wooden Crypt Guardian” (made up name) not once, not twice, but at least three times.

The reason ? It’s the best way to enjoy Elden Ring bosses. One of the features of the game, in fact, is that it is possible to explore freely, upgrade yourself, find resources and then launch yourself into a dungeon. Sometimes you are much stronger than the difficulty set by the game for that secondary section, other times you have bitten off more than you can chew and the enemy in question is very powerful, even too much, and you find yourself abandoning the area with the promise to return later.

This means that sometimes, maybe even the first time, you find a boss and destroy it in a few moments. It’s a nice section to see a boss’s life bar empty in just a few hits, but in all honesty I’m not playing for that. Elden Ring must offer me a minimum of challenge but it is impossible for me to always be at the right level to have an affordable but at the same time demanding challenge in front of me, which can keep me entertained without frustrating me.

Here they come to the rescue in repeated bosses . In fact, on at least one of the occasions, the enemy in question will not be significantly weaker than me and I will have to put in at least a minimum amount of effort, I will have to learn his moves and perhaps think of a small strategy to get the upper hand. This is funny. If each boss was used a single time, I would have no idea how most of them fought because in many cases I would be too strong and the battle would be over before I saw more than two attacks.

FromSoftware also tries, with some repetitions, to give a bit of diversity , adding a second boss or minions or changing something about the arena. These are small things that do not change the substance but help to eliminate that minimal sense of what has already been seen.

All of this is secondary though, I want to be able to fight each boss multiple times and get the most out of each one. It will be like this? We’ll find out, but in the meantime we can (re)read our review of Shadow of the Erdtree .
