Gears of War E-Day wants to focus on the best moments of the saga: the horror ones
Gears of War E-Day intends to focus more on the best moments of the saga: those most devoted to horror. Let’s see what the development team had to say.
The Coalition is working on Gears of War E-Day , a prequel to Microsoft’s entire shooter saga. The return to the origins is not only narrative but also stylistic, as Nicole Fawcette – brand director – and Matt Searcy – Nicole Fawcette – explain in an interview with IGN USA.
For Gears of War: E-Day, the team wants to go a more horror route , while keeping the franchise’s sci-fi roots intact.
The words of The Coalition on Gears of War E-Day
For us it’s like a ‘ what-if ‘ story,” Searcy said. “What if the ground opened up and monsters came out? Yes, it’s set on another fictional planet, but there are very human reactions and stories that we need to tell. To do that, we need to be able to tell a story that feels like horror.

“Gears of War: E-Day – Announcement Trailer
“We looked back at what people felt when they played Gears of War or any other Gears – Gears 4 included,” Sceary said. “But when people talk about what they remember about playing, the things that hit them, the feelings, a lot of them are about these dark, almost horror, scary moments .”
“So we took that feeling , that vision that’s in everyone’s head and said, ‘This is the game we’re going to build.’ We’re going to build that game with all the skills we’ve learned, with all the technology we’ve built, and we we will work hard,” he continued. “So definitely part of the story is about the reintroduction of locusts into Gears as scary monsters coming out of the ground. And then you realize, as you go along, that these aren’t just monsters, that there’s an army here And it’s bigger than you think.”
