THE FUTURE OF SHOGUN: THE SITUATION ON SEASONS 2 AND 3

THE FUTURE OF SHOGUN: THE SITUATION ON SEASONS 2 AND 3

In the week that is about to end, FX and Disney+ surprisingly announced that the acclaimed TV series Shogun will return with seasons 2 and 3 : let’s take stock of the situation on the future of the show based on the famous novel by James Clavell.

At the time of writing, FX, Hulu, Disney+ and the James Clavell Estate have announced that they are working on a sequel to Shogun, the critically acclaimed hit drama series, with the aim of developing the saga with two additional seasons: the main creatives behind the first season of the series, namely co-creators, executive producers and writers Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, executive producer Michaela Clavell and the series’ lead star and producer Hiroyuki Sanada , will all part of the team involved in the development of the next episodes.

Unfortunately the production times for Shogun 2 and 3 have not yet been decided , but the screenwriting team has already been defined and the actual work on writing the script will begin this summer. A decision to continue Shogun beyond the events of the novel on which the series is based , which can be understood in light of the resounding success of the first season, which in its first 9 weeks became the most watched FX series ever for hours of streaming worldwide.

We remind you that all 10 episodes of the first season of Shōgun, which ended on April 23, are available on Disney+ internationally and on Hulu in the United States.
