STELLAR BLADE, COMMAND INPUT LAG IS NOT A BUG: SHIFT UP WANTED IT THAT WAY

Did you notice a slight delay in the response of the controls while playing the Stellar Blade demo when you tried to dodge or deflect enemy shots? Please know that this is not a technical problem at all, but a precise stylistic choice desired by Shift Up .

This was confirmed by director Kim Hyung-tae during an interview with the Japanese portal 4Gamer based on the game and its trial version, where among the various topics the input lag issue was also touched upon: ” In Stellar Blade there is about half a second delay from the moment you press a button to the moment the move you make becomes visible on the screen, it is a lag that we cannot reduce further are activated instantly by pressing a button, as we believed that this was not suitable for the type of style and animations offered by the game “, explains the director.

The author also specified that ” we made sure that the abilities themselves activate at the precise moment in which you press a button, but the relative animation of the movements happens immediately afterwards “. However, the director also specified that if this stylistic choice were to make the game more difficult than expected for players, then Shift Up would make changes in the complete game. And indeed this was the case : Stellar Blade’s day one patch improves the combat system by removing the input lag seen in the demo. The full game available from April 26, 2024 on PlayStation 5 therefore does not have this appearance once the patch has been installed, thus guaranteeing anyone to play optimally.

Meanwhile, Digital Foundry was impressed by Stellar Blade , highlighting the absence of bugs and stable performance.
