Vedomosti reported that Apple authorized service centers (ASC) in Russia have lost original parts for the iPhone and MacBook. Service centers continue to operate (there are six service centers in Moscow alone), but without original components.
A representative of one of these centers, in a conversation with the publication, confirmed that all ASCs do not have original components for Apple equipment in Russia. The company stopped supplying parts in February 2024.
Vedomosti’s interlocutors say that deliveries stopped because the warranty for all Apple equipment that was officially imported expired in February 2024 – the period is two years. Apple left the Russian Federation in February 2022.
According to him, IPhone 14 and 15 are not serviced in the Russian Federation, and original components for previous generations of smartphones stopped being supplied in December last year. He added that until recently there were leftover components in Apple’s warehouses.
Experts interviewed by Vedomosti say that many service centers now import Chinese kits to Russia for repairs or dismantle old devices.
In one of the ASCs, a person was offered to replace the iPhone 13 Pro battery with a “gray” one for 14,500 rubles. They added that the device will not recognize components as “non-original”, although this function is available in all iPhones, starting with the XS model.
It is reported that service centers use self-repair kits, which Apple has been providing to users under the Self Repair Service program outside Russia since 2021
