Grand Theft Auto 6 is likely to be a huge success if GTA 5’s achievements are anything to go by, and the series publisher believes the long-awaited sequel could be “unrivaled in the industry.”

At TD Cowen’s 52nd Annual Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed how much the gaming industry has grown since the last GTA game and how to support a game as big as GTA 6 in today’s industry.

“I really think the world has changed since we released GTA 5,” Zelnick explained, pointing to the series’ past without microtransactions and a standalone version of GTA Online. Back then the game was on par with Call of Duty, but today, with 200 million copies sold, it ranks first among all entertainment products of all time. Zelnik noted that the record number of views of the GTA 6 trailer clearly indicates the potential commercial success of the game.

Given the hype and the company’s vast resources, if Rockstar can deliver what is expected of it, then Zelnick says Take-Two “will be able to maintain an unrivaled hit in the industry.”
