Former Paradox Interactive boss leads Helldivers 2 developers
Arrowhead Games Studios has announced a reshuffle of its leadership positions. The studio’s current CEO and founder Johan Pilestedt is leaving his post, and Shams Jorjani, the former head of business development at Paradox Interactive, will take his place.
Johan Pilestedt will remain within the Helldivers 2 development studio, but as chief creative officer and chairman of the board. Pilestedt stated that he made the decision out of a desire to focus more on game development rather than business.
I’ve been thinking about the future path for Arrowhead, the future games we’ll make, and leading an organization that currently has about 120 developers. I realized that running an organization that was only going to grow meant having to choose between game development and business.
Over the past year, in preparation for the launch of Helldivers 2, I’ve been increasingly focused on the business side of things and haven’t been able to focus as much on the creative aspects. It made me realize that I need to make decisions, both for the success of the business and for myself.
Paradox Interactive Business Development Director Shams Jorjani left the company in November 2021 . He worked there since 2009, starting as a producer. He also served as chairman of independent publisher Hooded Horse.
The creators of Helldivers 2 are considering reducing the frequency of patch releases
From Sony’s recent financial report, it became known that sales of Helldivers 2 exceeded 12 million copies in the 12 weeks after release. The cooperative shooter was released in February on PC and PS5.
On May 9, a paid battle pass, “Polar Patriots,” was released for Helldivers 2 with new weapons, armor, and other goodies.
