Final Fantasy 7 Part 3: possible release year suggested by director Kitase

For Final Fantasy 7 Part 3, director Yoshinori Kitase expects development times similar to those of Rebirth.

Final Fantasy 7 Part 3 , or whatever the name of the third and final part of the remake trilogy will be, could arrive in stores as early as 2027 , at least according to the statements of Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase included in the book Ultimania of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth recently released in Japan, summarized by Aitai Kimochi on X.

Considering the average development times of today’s triple-A games, three years of waiting might seem short , and indeed they are, but upon closer inspection they are in line with the timing between the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake (April 2020) and Rebirth (February 2024), or just under four years.

This is also confirmed by director Kitase, who revealed that in reality the development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth lasted only three years , as a year was spent only on the creation of the DLC starring Yuffie, and he hopes that the team will succeed to repeat this result also for Part 3. Hence 2027 as a possible release year, clearly barring unforeseen events.

The Final Fantasy 7 Part 3 team is the same as Rebirth

Furthermore, Kitase also reiterated that Rebirth’s development time was so short thanks to the fact that the team was made up of the same people who worked on the Remake and that the same goes for Part 3 as well.

Nomura added that the main story has already been completed, but that he is evaluating the possible inclusion of a very important “something” not present in the original game that could make players happy. Furthermore, dubbing recording sessions could already begin soon.

Meanwhile, a new patch for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was published a few days ago, which resolved an issue that prevented the Platinum trophy from being obtained .
