Without making too much noise, Embracer Group has also closed Pieces Interactive, the team responsible for the recent Alone in the Dark, which is definitively closing its doors after 17 years of activity.

Quietly, Embracer Group also shut down Pieces Interactive , the development team that recently launched the Alone in the Dark reboot and previously developed Magicka 2 and several other titles in its 17-year history .

The announcement of the closure comes directly from the development team’s official website, which clearly states that the studio has closed its doors, thanking everyone for playing the company’s titles, active from 2007 to 2024 .

Pieces Interactive has developed over ten games across PC, console and mobile platforms in its 17-year history, including titles of notable importance, including collaborations and projects completely managed by the team.

17 years of history of Pieces Interactive

Pieces Interactive initially made itself known with original titles entirely managed by the indie team such as Puzzlegeddon, Fret Nice, Leviathan Warships, Robo Surf and Kill to Collect, which immediately demonstrated the studio’s considerable capabilities.

Subsequently, he took part in projects also linked to external franchises of notable caliber.

He worked on expansions and updates of Titan Quest, as well as on the development of Magicka 2 for Paradox, of which he practically completely managed the works, as well as several DLCs for the series.

The team collaborated with Paradox Interactive, Koei Tecmo, Arrowhead Game Studios, Koch Media and RaceRoom Entertainment. In 2017 it was acquired by Embracer Group , a giant already launched in its impressive expansion to conquer the videogame industry, and under this label it developed the reboot of Alone in the Dark .

Probably the most important project in its history, Alone in the Dark therefore remains the last game ever for Pieces Interactive, which was closed shortly after the launch of the title in question, within the gigantic restructuring of Embracer which already led to a large number of closures.

Although it is not made explicit, it is possible that  Alone in the Dark has received a big update with new game plus, photo mode and more contributed to Embracer’s desire to close the team.
