Elden Ring data miners continue to find hidden content – one NPC may have received a completely different voice

More than two years after its release and before the release of a giant DLC expansion, Elden Ring still holds many secrets and mysteries. A fan has discovered a set of unused voice lines that appear to have been hidden in the PC RPG files up until version 1.06.

However, the word “unused” may not be entirely accurate, as the dialogue itself can still be found in the game, just not with that voice. As highlighted by user Xย MagicalShionย , these lines belong to the NPC Nefeli Lux, who has a full-fledged storyline and can be called upon to help in the battle with Godric. She is voiced by Kara Theobold in the final game, but she sounds completely different in these data files.

It’s unclear why these fully recorded lines remained in the game’s files for so long, but Elden Ring data miner and cut content archaeologist Sekiro Dubi claims that Nefeli Lux was not listed as a confirmed voice actor in the Elden Ring online test credits. Instead, the credits simply say “not yet determined.” This may be due to the fact that the actual voice actress was cast at the last minute.

According to MagicalShion, there are other interesting components in the archive: Mountain Peaks with additional recording noise, unfinished versions of Altus, seven seconds of the DkS3 Ancient Wyvern soundtrack split into two layers for testing, plus other odds and ends. However, as the miner noted, there are no hidden music tracks in the archive. At least in this version.

The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion releases on June 21st.
