As with Bethesda’s connections between Fallout and The Elder Scrolls , also for the sci-fi odyssey of V and Johnny Silverhand the digital forges of CD Projekt RED have decided to ideally link back to The Witcher 3 in giving shape to the dystopian gigalopolis that creates as a backdrop to Cyberpunk 2077.
Roach Race and Photo Mode stickers
Described by CD Projekt as “the greatest success of the Night City arcades”, Roach Race is a Cyberpunk 2077 minigame inspired by The Witcher and, more precisely, Geralt’s trusty steed. Subsequently brought to iOS and Android systems by Crunching Koalas, the Roach Race minigame sees the Witcher’s horse set off on a long journey in the hope of exploring all the most iconic locations of The Witcher role-playing series.
It is a minigame that offers a classic experience with an arcade style, a platform on tracks with many obstacles to overcome and points to collect to try to climb the world rankings. Some Cyberpunk 2077 Photo Mode stickers are also dedicated to Geralt of Rivia’s inseparable steed, perfect for adding a pinch of nostalgia in The Witcher style to the virtual photos taken in the company of V and Johnny Silverhand.
The Witcher themed gear
In addition to the mods of The Witcher 3 with Geralt dressed as a Cyberpunk choom, also in the sci-fi adventure of V it is possible to ideally wear the shoes of the Witcher through a set of ‘themed’ clothes and equipment.
The most ‘obvious’ connection between Cyberpunk and The Witcher takes the form of an additional package to be redeemed by connecting your GOG.com account to the game to receive in exchange a jacket, two t-shirts, a soft toy and, above all, a katana with details strongly inspired by the fantasy imagery and clothing of the protagonists of The Witcher.
The Smugglers’ Depot
Among the most iconic types of missions in The Witcher 3 we certainly find the challenges to recover the smugglers’ crates. A direct reference to the deeds performed by the Witcher to acquire these precious cargoes can be found in one of the most representative Easter eggs of Cyberpunk 2077.
During a particular mission which involves the completion of various activities, V’s followers must in fact acquire the goods that one of the many criminal factions of Night City has decided to hide, yes, inside three crates submerged in water with lots of cable connected to special floats!
Ciri and the Lonely Swallow
In the dystopian future outlined by the authors of CD Projekt there is no room for birds, due to the Avian Extermination Act issued by the authorities of Night City to put a stop to epidemics caused by zoonotic diseases.
Yet, in one of the endings of The Witcher 3 (which we prefer not to go into detail in order not to expose annoying spoilers) it is possible to admire a swallow, a symbol commonly associated with Ciri from The Witcher. It is therefore a poetic homage to the journey undertaken by Ciri and Geralt, as well as an indirect reference to the tiring path taken by V to get to the bottom of the problems that have afflicted him since the beginning of the main campaign of CP2077.
To the tune of Blood and Wine
In various corners of Night City explored by the emulators of netrunner V during the main campaign it is possible to carve out a moment of time to let yourself be carried away by the rhythm and notes of the songs performed by street guitarists with a passion for The Witcher 3.
The artists crossed by our alter-ego, in fact, love to strum one of the most recognizable songs of the fantasy dimension explored by the Witcher: we are referring to the main theme of Blood and Wine, the expansion of TW3 that takes Geralt among the sweet streets of Toussaint to face an emerging vampiric threat. And you, what other connections between The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 were you able to grasp by exploring the sci-fi dimension of Night City? Let us know with a comment!
