Well-known insider Lunatic Ignus, who often publishes information about Chinese games such as Black Myth: Wukong, shared new details about Crimson Desert. According to him, the game will be released in the first quarter of 2025. Additionally, Pearl Abyss will be presenting a new demo at gamescom 2024.
This confirms previous rumors. In December 2023, InsightKorea stated that the game had been unofficially delayed until 2025.
The game is a role-playing action adventure game where you have to explore a huge fantasy world. In the game, three tribes are at war for control of the continent of Pywell, and the fight is for survival.
Development is led by Jason Jung, who previously created games such as RYL Online. He works alongside Dae-il Kim, founder of Pearl Abyss, and Ether Lee, a combat systems specialist who participated in the development of RYL Online and C9.
Crimson Desert was announced back in 2019, but in 2021 Pearl Abyss postponed the game’s release indefinitely. At the moment there is no official release date. It was previously assumed that the game would be released in the second quarter of 2024.
The latest trailer for Crimson Desert was shown at Gamescom 2023 and included 3 minutes of gameplay.
Lunatic Ignus also revealed that Pearl Abyss plans to release DokeV a year after the release of Crimson Desert. This coincides with information from InsightKorea, which points to a 2026 release date for DokeV – which is also taking longer to develop than previously expected.
