Battlefield will continue its run with a new chapter: it will once again be a live service obviously. We also know that it is already playable.
Electronic Arts has recently indicated which games are coming by March 2025 , but no Battlefield chapter is included among these . We don’t know when we’ll be able to play a new game in the saga, but it seems that the project is progressing positively and that at least one component is already playable.
The information comes from Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson, who spoke during a recent financial meeting with investors. Wilson said: “Motive (makers of the Dead Space remake), armed with cutting-edge Frostbite technology and the ability to create compelling stories, joins with Dice, Criterion and Ripple Effect to build a Battlefield universe across multiplayer and single-player experiences connected players. This is the largest Battlefield team in the history of the franchise.”
Wilson adds that just “a few weeks ago” he was able to visit the teams and “couldn’t be more thrilled” with what the development teams showed and what they got to play, confirming that the Battlefield game in development is already in a playable state . It’s unclear whether this is the single-player or multiplayer portion of the shooter.
What kind of game will Battlefield be?
As mentioned, we have no information on the next Battlefield project, but we had confirmation from the meeting: it will once again be a “live service” game , i.e. a title designed to be regularly updated, expanded and to give players the opportunity to invest money on a regular basis, for example through the additional content of the various seasons and with the related passes.
It is obviously no surprise that this is the direction taken by Electronic Arts, given that live services are the best way to make money in the long term and that several of its games are built around this method of content distribution.
Clearly the hope is that the time spent improving Battlefield 2042 has been a lesson for the future chapter. Remember that the seventh season will be the last of Battlefield 2042 .
