RESIDENT EVIL 5 REMAKE: CAPCOM WOULD HAVE PUT IT ON HOLD WILL RE6 REMAKE BE MADE?
With Capcom gradually remaking the main chapters of Resident Evil in a modern way , it is reasonable to deduce that sooner or later the turn of the fifth episode could also arrive. Resident Evil 5 Remake is a possibility given the clues present in RE4 Remake , however its arrival would not be immediate.
According to the German leaker Andi of ScreenFire Germany , considered reliable by the well-known insider Dusk Golem having first revealed the existence of remakes for both Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica , Capcom actually has a modern remake of Resident Evil 5 in its plans with pre-production already underway, however the project would be put on hold indefinitely. The reason behind this decision would be linked to the search for solutions to avoid any accusation of racism for the contents of the game: the original Resident Evil 5 was in fact set in Africa and already at the time of its initial presentations it had sparked debates on the fact of fighting infected of African origin.
Andi specifies that Resident Evil 5 Remake has absolutely not been cancelled , but will remain on hold until Capcom has found the right way to develop it. If this were really the situation, however, the rumors according to which the remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica will be made would find greater concreteness and could at this point be the next to arrive.
Still with a view to remakes, it seems that Capcom has discussed the possibility of also making Resident Evil 6 Remake in order to complete the entire main series. Unlike the other games, however, this idea would have been immediately discarded as no one within the company would be interested in carrying forward such a project, potentially risky not only due to the amount of its contents, but also due to the lack of popularity of the sixth chapter among fans of the series.
Little but sure, there seems to be a lot of irons in the fire in Capcom’s kitchens at the moment, and we should soon find out with greater certainty what the future of Resident Evil will be.
