Bethesda’s Todd Howard called Fallout’s recent renaissance “something amazing” that hasn’t happened to him in his 30 years in the industry.
There has been renewed interest in the series thanks to Amazon’s Fallout series. The success of the show, which attracted tens of millions of viewers, led to a massive return of players to the worlds of Fallout.
Fallout 4 became the best-selling game in Europe in April, despite being released almost a decade ago. And Fallout 76 has 20 million players – and this is several years after its release.
Howard said in an interview with Variety:
Depending on the Fallout game, the number of daily players has increased by 4-6 times. When an event brings so many new people into games they’ve never played before, it’s a big deal.
Amazon has already officially announced the second season of Fallout. Let’s hope that filming starts soon, and we don’t have to wait three years for the premiere.
Howard confirmed that season two will follow the same characters we met in season one.
One of the first things Jonah (Nolan) told me was that television is a character search. And it’s really cool how these characters resonated with the audience.
And I think there are still stories worth telling…
It is unclear whether the showrunners have a script ready for the second season, and if not, how long it will take to prepare it.
