Bungie has announced that with the launch of the Final Form expansion in Destiny 2, it will remove the power level threshold for weapons and armor from previous years. In other words, loot that was sunsetted during Beyond Light will become relevant again.

The developers understand that many players have managed to sort out unnecessary loot in recent years, but, unfortunately, they cannot return it. Bungie plans to bring most of this gear back into the game in the future, updating it to current game standards.

Now, in a similar way, a number of guns from previous seasons have been returned to Destiny 2 under the guise of the Prowess arsenal as part of the free update “Towards the Light”.

Bungie also revealed that the Power of Group mechanic will be coming to Destiny 2 with the release of Final Form . It matches squad members to the leader with the highest power level, so friends can play together regardless of their level differences.

The player with the highest power level in the fireteam becomes the power leader. The power level of the remaining players automatically becomes five levels less than that of the leader (if their level is lower than this value). The strength of the fireteam solely affects the difficulty of the missions, while the strength of the reward is still determined by your actual strength level.

Even with the release of the expansion, the strength intervals will change – to reach the lower threshold of the strength level, you will need to gain only 40 units of strength (instead of the usual 150).

Strength Intervals in “Final Form”:

  • Starting Strength: 1900
  • Lower threshold: 1940
  • Upper threshold: 1990
  • Hard/Max threshold: 2000

Bungie will also divide missions into two categories: those that take power into account and those that don’t. In the first case, these are Vanguard playlists, Nightfalls, seasonal activities, exotic quests, raids, and dungeons.

The second features story campaigns (both difficulty levels), seasonal story missions, open world destinations, the Crucible, and some classic content.

The power level of rewards will also improve. Loot that gives +1 to your power level can now be obtained not only in select activities, but also in almost all missions in Destiny 2 . This way, players won’t have to limit themselves to powerful weekly rewards.

All items purchased from merchants will now be no more than 3 levels below your maximum power level, and items received again from the collection will be 5 levels lower (instead of a significant drop to the starting power value).

At the same time, Destiny 2 will add an account power level. The rewarded equipment will have a power level corresponding to the highest power level of the characters on the account.

For example, if you level up your Hunter’s Power and switch to a low-level Titan or Warlock and receive gear as a reward, its Power Level will match the Hunter’s. Of course, the exact power level will depend on the source of the reward, but the power level of individual characters will positively affect the rewards for everyone else!
