Dune 3 has been officially confirmed by Legendary: Denis Villeneuve will direct again. Let’s see what we know about the third film of the sci-fi saga.
It’s official: Dune 3 is in development . The news comes from Variety, which confirmed through the production company Legendary that the third film is in development with director Denis Villeneuve.
Dune: Part Two has proven to be a huge success thus far, crossing the $600 million mark at the box office and surpassing the total of the first film. We don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone that the third film has received the green light.
“There is absolutely a desire to have a third film, but I don’t want to rush it ,” Villenueve said recently. “The danger in Hollywood is that people get excited and only think about release dates, not quality.”
The director also said that the third will likely be his last film in the franchise .
Dune Part 3: cast and what book it is based on
There are no details on the film yet, but we can assume that it will see the return of Timothée Chalamet (Paul Muad’dib Atreides), Zendaya (Chani), Rebecca Ferguson (Lady Jessica, although the character is not present in the novel), Javier Bardem (Stilgar), Florence Pugh (Irulan) and Josh Brolin (Gurney Halleck). It’s likely that Anya Taylor-Joy is Alia Atreides, considering what we saw in the second Dune.
Dune 3 will be adapted from Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah . It is the second novel in the saga, made up of six main novels written by Frank Herbert (the subsequent ones were written by his son). The first two films adapted the first novel.
Previously, Zendaya had her say on the third Dune film .
