XDefiant continues its journey and reaches its official Season 1, which brings with it numerous new features including additional content, more modes, weapons and maps as well as balance changes.

Ubisoft has announced that Season 1 of XDefiant is now officially available , with the update dropping today and containing several exciting changes to the game, including some balance tweaks among many other new features .

The first season of XDefiant marks the arrival of the new map Clubhouse and two more to come later, namely Rockefeller and Daytona, substantially expanding the game’s content, along with several other additions.

Among these are three new weapons : the LVOA-C, the Sawed-Off Shotgun, and an unspecified sniper rifle, but also numerous gameplay changes, most notably with a rework of the balance across several aspects of the competitive multiplayer shooter.

Lots of changes and new features applied with Season 1

In particular, there is talk of some changes related to gameplay, factions and game modes.

On the gameplay front , the expiration time of activated Boosters has been changed, so that their duration is only reduced during matches, when you are actually playing, instead of always, as it was before.

We’ve also lowered the XP threshold for each Battle Pass tier to give your progression a little more of a boost, as well as tweaked the match bonus XP rewards: MVP and Victory have gone from 2,000 to 1,000 XP. Extraction has gone from 1,000 to 500. Completion has doubled from 2,000 to 4,000 to encourage players to stay engaged.

Responding to a specific request from the community, Ubisoft has also added a headshot icon to the Killfeed, “because it feels good,” apparently.

As for factions , the GSK and a specific announcer have been added: HQ. These are elite operators of Team Rainbow from the German Border Protection Command, specializing in various control and combat actions.

The cooldown on the Echelon Intel Suit and Phantoms’ Mag Barrier has been increased, while that of DedSec Hijack has been decreased, along with several other adjustments made, as visible in the patch notes.

As previously reported, the arrival of Season 1 also coincides with the introduction of the “Capture the Flag” game mode, a true classic of competitive team-based shooters, of which we have also seen the dedicated trailer .
