Elden Ring is a success among video games: could it also become a success in the world of cinema? FromSoftware’s Miyazaki says there’s interest in an adaptation.
Cinema has now discovered video games and is slowly focusing more and more on transpositions to be successful in theaters. Among the most successful games of recent years is Elden Ring . Could there ever be a movie dedicated to it?
FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, company president and director of the action role-playing game, says “there is interest” in a film adaptation of Elden Ring .
Miyazaki’s words on an adaptation of Elden Ring
“I see no reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, such as a film,” Miyazaki told The Guardian.
“But I don’t think FromSoftware or I have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that’s where a talented partner would come in . But you would first need to build the right trust around the project, but there’s interest, for sure.
“Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – Launch Trailer
Recall that Elden Ring was created from a mythology created by George RR Martin . The question therefore arises whether a possible film (or a TV series?) dedicated to Elden Ring could receive the support of the writer, who has great experience in the television sector after Game of Thrones and its spin-offs.
Elden Ring offers an epic journey into a fantasy world that would be interesting to bring to the screen, but at the same time it is a work with a narrative component based on “lore”, that is, an indirect way of telling the story. For a film or a TV series it would be necessary to do a profound (re)writing job.
For now, therefore, it is still too early to know whether FromSoftware’s blockbuster will be transformed into a cinematographic work or not, in any case the brand continues to do very well in its natural habitat: our review of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree explains because this is a great expansion.
