THE WITCHER 4 REQUIRES AN ARMY TO BE PUT INTO PRODUCTION
That The Witcher Polaris , code name for The Witcher 4 , is a very ambitious project was made clear by CD Projekt RED right from the start. Not only will The Witcher Polaris kick off a new trilogy , but there’s already a huge team working on it. And this despite the fact that full production has not yet begun.
Commenting on the company’s latest financial results, CD Projekt RED CFO Piotr Nielubowicz revealed that ” in the first quarter of 2024 we focused on the further development of our next projects, the largest of which is The Witcher Polaris both in terms of team size that for progress in the works. Over 400 people are currently working on the first game of the new The Witcher trilogy and we plan to enter the production phase in the second half of the year .”
The development of The Witcher Polaris has therefore not yet come to fruition but CD Projekt RED has already laid all the foundations for a production job that promises to be mammoth in terms of the number of people involved and the company’s ambitions with the new The Witcher. Furthermore, everything seems to be proceeding according to plan : the Polish studio wanted at least 400 developers working on Polaris by summer 2024, the period in which it is expected to move on to full production of the project.
CD Projekt RED has specified that there are precisely 407 workers involved in the development of The Witcher Polaris as of April 30, 2024, numbers which at the moment radically exceed the human resources involved in the company’s other projects: Cyberpunk Orion can currently count on a team of 56 people, the spin-off The Witcher Sirius on 39 and the new IP Hadar only on 20. The Witcher 4 aims to offer something new , with the developers absolutely not wanting to limit themselves to creating a reskin of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt .
