The developer of Manor Lords apologized for the remaining bugs but promises that the transition to Unreal Engine 5 will solve many problems

Lead developer Manor Lords hasn’t addressed the game’s deer-related mayhem, but that’s only because he’s busy updating the medieval city-building simulator to a more modern engine.

Manor Lords has become one of the most successful Early Access games of the year, selling over 2 million copies in its first month. And since the game is still in active development, Manor Lords creator Stychen regularly releases updates, but the latest update appears to have left a bug that caused the game’s deer to migrate incorrectly. The problem with dormant deer will remain for some time as Stychen has shifted his attention from deer migration to engine migration.

Even though I left the deer migration bug in the last version (sorry!), I decided to leave the current version for a longer time and start moving to Unreal Engine 5 now. We’re about halfway there, with just a few things left to tweak… But now that ML is on UE5, the game will receive official engine support, which includes the ability to simultaneously work on console ports without being hampered by legacy SDKs.

Additionally, annoying engine issues such as flickering roads and random crashes caused by memory corruption have also been fixed during the transition to Unreal Engine 5.

In addition to moving to Unreal Engine 5, developer Manor Lords has previously expressed a desire to go into his “cave” and “finally add new features” to the game. What these new functions are is still unknown.
