The creator of Elden Ring admits that he exaggerated with the swamps: for the DLC he created new ways to die
Elden Ring includes a lot of swamps and fans don’t always appreciate them. Now the game’s creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, admits he went too far, so for the DLC she created new ways to die
Hidetaka Miyazaki, head of FromSoftware, loves poisonous swamps and we all know it well. In all of his games there are various ones and Elden Ring is not exempt from its share of swamps, be they poison or scarlet rot.
However, the director admitted that he realized he had exaggerated a bit with his last game and therefore for Shadow of the Erdtree he decided to change things a bit .
Miyazaki likes to think of new ways to die (he said so)
“As far as the poisonous swamps go, I think I went a little too far in the original Elden Ring . So I’m trying to learn some lessons from that,” Miyazaki tells CNET. “And you can say that the version in the DLC, as I have already confirmed, applies many of these lessons.” While this may seem exciting to many, Miyazaki wants to “put the brakes on expectations and reiterate that [a swamp] exists [in the DLC], but that I customized it.”

“Between existing and not existing, with this version, let’s say I try to imagine different ways in which I want to die as a player or in which I want to be killed. So this part of me has been transferred to the poisonous swamp,” Miyazaki continues, before adding: “So, not in the poisonous swamp itself – that was limited – but in other parts of the gameplay, there are many ways to die.”
Miyazaki clearly doesn’t want to reveal too much about the matter but luckily we won’t have to wait too long. Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree will be available on July 21st on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. We leave you with our review .
