Cloud Imperium Games has announced that it has surpassed $700 million raised through the community for the development of Star Citizen . The 600 million milestone was surpassed last year, precisely in August.
More precisely, at the time of writing Star Citizen has raised $701,205,447 . The number is visible via the official website. An official graph shows how the company has raised a lot of money especially in the last week, with a peak on May 25th amounting to almost three million dollars.

Star Citizen has been in development for over ten years, and while it doesn’t yet have a date for a full release, it has reached some major milestones lately.
In October last year, Cloud Imperium Games announced that the Star Citizen campaign portion, Squadron 42 , has full features. The focus of the team working on the single-player campaign is now on “optimizing and fine-tuning” the experience. However, a definitive release window has not yet been set.

Meanwhile, on the MMO side of Star Citizen, the studio has released numerous Alpha updates with gameplay features and engine improvements. These include new space stations, further reworks of the PVP and flight model, abandoned settlements and new spaceships of human and alien origin.
With the Alpha 3.23 update , wildlife was added to habitable planets in the Star Citizen universe. The creatures have arrived alongside an all-new character creator that offers customization options, upscaling technologies like Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, extensive industrial areas, and a complete overhaul of the user interface and interactions.
The studio’s progress tracker for upcoming updates shows that Star Citizen Alpha 4.0 has an expected release date of Q3 2024. This update is expected to introduce an entirely new solar system and explorable planets. It will also bring features such as engineering, fire risk and life support systems in ships, additional wildlife, and the initial implementation of Server Meshing.
