SQUARE ENIX WANTS TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF ITS GAMES: NEW STRATEGIES IN PLACE

According to its latest financial report, Square Enix has recorded a decline in sales of its games although it is banking heavily on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for a successful first quarter of 2024. But the Japanese company wants to do everything to improve the quality of its games and thus make them even more attractive.

During a briefing focused on the latest financial data, the president of Square Enix, Takashi Kiryu , confirmed that the company is implementing a profound overhaul of its development processes with the aim of creating much more refined and efficient games than to what has been achieved so far: ” We are reviewing our organizational structure from scratch to understand what the best ways can be to implement each content thought up during the development processes “, explains Kiryu.

It also seems that among the strategies that Square Enix intends to implement there would be a greater focus on internal production , entrusting fewer and fewer projects to external studios and giving maximum priority to its flagship games. By doing so, the Japanese company would have even greater control over the development processes and the possibility of making timely decisions on ideas and management of work in progress.

At the end of January 2024 Square Enix absorbed Tokyo RPG Factory internally, probably with a view to the internal reorganization just implemented.
