Jeff Grubb: Respawn is working on a new game in the Titanfall universe

Last spring, Respawn Entertainment CEO Vince Zampella said that a small team inside the studio, led by Titanfall director Steve Fukuda, was trying to find “fun gameplay in something new.”

According to insider and journalist Jeff Grubb, Fukuda’s team is working on a new game in the Titanfall universe. In the Game Mess Mornings podcast, the journalist noted that the project has entered the prototyping stage and this is not Titanfall 3.

At the same time, Grubb added that there will be titans in the game in one form or another .

There are talks about Titanfall 3 all the time, but they are not working on that game. Whenever I ask people, they are not working on the third part. Before this, the development of a third-party game was carried out by a small team, but now it is a full-fledged project in the prototype stage.

Previously, Jason Schreier wrote that EA canceled Titanfall Legends, a story-based game in the world of Titanfall and Apex Legends. Development was led by Mohammad Alavi, a veteran developer of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (and the “Not a Word in Russian” mission) and Modern Warfare 2 (2009). He left Respawn in early 2022.

In late February, EA laid off nearly 700 employees and canceled Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars shooter after reviewing its business strategy. According to rumors, this was a project based on The Mandalorian.
