Bethesda has released a next-gen update for Fallout 4, and this update has an extremely negative impact on the work of many mods. Moreover, despite Bethesda’s claims, the patch did not add proper support for ultra-wide monitors on PC. In short, the update doesn’t do anything useful, at least on PC. Luckily, there is a way you can roll back to a previous version.
Here’s how to restore Fallout 4 to the previous version:
- Create a new folder to store all your Fallout 4 files
- Open the Run dialog box (Win key + R), paste the following:
- steam://nav/console
- press Enter
- The Steam console should appear. Below, copy and paste each “download_depot” line line by line:
download_depot 377160 377161 7497069378349273908
download_depot 377160 377162 5847529232406005096
download_depot 377160 377163 5819088023757897745
download_depot 3771 60 377164 2178106366609958945
Please note that these files are for the English version of the game.
- After completing each line, navigate to the folder path shown in the console
- Once completed, open the folder indicated in the “Depo download complete” message, find the Fallout 4 files in it and paste them into the folder created in step 1.
- After downloading all the above depots, you should have a fully returned version of Fallout 4.
That’s all. Once you have done all this, you can download this mod to prevent the game from updating on Steam. This is a must-have mod for anyone who wants to stay on the previous version of Fallout 4. It also includes a way to roll back the DLC.
