There’s a very specific reason why Astro Bot is so fun and promises to be beautiful : Team Asobi themselves explain it in an interview with Gamefile full of behind-the-scenes information on the genesis of the new, highly anticipated platform adventure exclusive to PlayStation 5.
While chatting with journalist Stephen Totilo, representatives of the Japanese subsidiary of PlayStation Studios offered some important clarifications on the long and arduous development path undertaken to give shape to Astro Bot.
According to the leaders of Team Asobi, the creation of the Astro Bot project required over a year of study, with prototypes and concepts discussed regularly by the entire development team to decide from time to time on the new moves to make. According to what was explained by the representatives of Team Asobi, the company organized ‘internal’ test sessions every two weeks asking each individual developer to try the game and offer feedback, without imposing any limitations on criticisms and suggestions on possible changes to be made.
Still regarding the work done to create the new PS5 exclusive, the upper echelons of the Japanese software house explained that they wanted to design Astro Bot as a toy and not as a video game , a rather original approach but which, in their opinion, paid off in terms of fun and variety of challenges offered.
