Helldivers 2 Lost 90% of PC Players in Just Five Months

Arrowhead’s shooter Helldivers 2 has become the fastest-selling PlayStation game on PC, but despite its initial success, Steam player counts continue to decline, falling to around 10 percent of its peak of 458,709 concurrent players on Steam.

At the end of May, SteamDB showed that Helldivers 2’s peak player count at the time had dropped by 64 percent to 166,305.

Today, that number dropped again by 35 percent, reaching a 30-day average of 41,860 concurrent players on Steam.

Of course, this number only represents players on Steam; there should be about the same number on PS5.

However, a series of missteps on Sony’s part – starting with the infamous PSN scandal earlier this year – not only resulted in a wave of negative feedback from a very disappointed community, but also the game being pulled from sale in the 177 countries where PSN is not available, forcing Sony to abandon its plans.

However, such a drop in activity is understandable – new games are coming out, so not everyone wants to run Helldivers 2 all the time. Moreover, this is not CS2.
