Hellblade 2 and other relevant releases of the last period failed to enter the European top 100
The May European chart was particularly brutal, excluding seemingly highly anticipated titles like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and others.
There are many relevant releases from May 2024 that did not enter the top 100 best-selling games in Europe , as highlighted by Christopher Dring of Games Industry. In particular, the absence of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 , one of the most anticipated first party Xbox games of the first half of the year, stands out. The console versions of the remake of System Shock and The Rogue Prince of Persia were also bad.
Worrying data
For Dring, this is a sign of the growing difficulty of the traditional market in absorbing the releases that follow one another over the months, even though there are specific reasons that can in some way explain certain less than brilliant results. For example, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was also released on Game Pass , while the remake of System Shock is certainly a more attractive game for PC users, the platform on which it proved to be a success.

May was a brutal month for game sales in Europe. With fantastic games like the System Shock remake on consoles, Hellblade 2, and the Rogue Prince of Persia all missing out on the Top 100. There are mitigating reasons, but the market remains challenged https://t.co/UU0a62OjRy

Having said this, there is no doubt that these are serious failures for a market that is already unstable and always ready to look elsewhere in the event of losses. As already highlighted when reporting the full data , May was a generally very flat month for video game sales in Europe, with the market being made up of the usual suspects. Let’s review the top 10.
