European chart for January: Hellblade returned to the top ten, PS5 sales are growing

The GamesIndustry.biz portal, citing data from GSD analysts, revealed sales of games and consoles in Europe for January 2024. The number of video game copies sold was 12.14 million, which is 7.3% less than last year.

The data takes into account sales of physical copies and digital copies. In the latter case, there are no figures for Nintendo games, since the publisher does not share figures with third parties.

The leader in January in Europe was EA Sports FC 24. Sales of the football simulator during the period were almost identical to those of FIFA 23 last year. In second place is The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, which sells 2.5 times better than Part 1.

Tekken 8 debuted at number seven. Sales of the fighting game in its debut week are 80% higher than those of Street Fighter 6. GI.biz notes that European players love Tekken more than Street Fighter.

In eighth place is Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice from Ninja Theory. The game returned to the chart amid discounts and the January release of the sequel. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown took ninth place.

The number of consoles sold in January in Europe amounted to almost 475 thousand – a drop of 1.4% compared to last year. PS5 is in the lead. Sales of Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S are down.
