Team Asano said he regretted the announcement of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, which arrived too early compared to the state of the work.
During the Nintendo Direct on June 18th, the long-awaited release date of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake was announced : the game will arrive on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series 2024. More than three years have passed since the original announcement , which dates back to May 27, 2021 (the day of Dragon Quest. Team Asano, the development studio that is making it, took advantage of the opportunity to apologize for the delay, admitting in a post on X for having announced the game too early , despite development times similar to those of his other works.

Team Asano is the informal name given to the internal Square Enix team directed by Tomoya Asano, to whom we owe some of the best Japanese role-playing game series of recent years: Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake was developed together with Artdink , who helped bring the game back to life with completely redone graphics with a unique style.

Team Asano’s apology was made via the Bravely Default 2 account , where we can read: “We were told that too much time has passed since the announcement of the start of development , but in reality it is not a special situation, as all our previous titles took 3 to 4 years to develop. However, the (initial) announcement was a little too early compared to others (we are reflecting on this). !”
That said, Dragon Quest fans can rejoice, because in addition to Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, a collection featuring remastered editions of Dragon Quest 1 and 2 is on the way . The fact that the third episode is released first is interesting, given that chronologically it is the first of the Erdrick trilogy.
