Cyberpunk 2077 could have taken us beyond Earth according to some components that emerged online

According to a series of Cyberpunk 2077 components that were allegedly stolen from CD Projekt in a hack a few years ago, the role-playing video game could have taken us even beyond Earth.

Cyberpunk 2077 was published in less than perfect conditions and with various elements not present in the launch package, then added via update. Additionally, an expansion was released that expanded the story and added new areas. However, it seems that there is an area that the team initially thought of including and which has been removed: the Moon .

The information, reported by Insider Gaming , is linked to gaming assets that were allegedly stolen from CD Projekt in the 2021 hack and are now circulating on 4chan.

What Cyberpunk 2077 assets would show

The initial post presents these images as coming from a canceled DLC that was supposed to take place during a new “corporate war” and compares its scope to The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion. This interpretation, as well as the provenance of the images, goes taken with a pinch of salt: it is not at all certain that this is correct information.

However, the impression is that what is indicated may be real. The thread includes screenshots of the file directories : the main file is “02_moon” and contains folders like “arisaka_lab”, “cosmodrome”, and “bomb_crater_set”. A mock up of the map indicates that the lunar area was planned to be six square kilometers, or about a quarter of the base game’s map, with areas called “NC Base (Night City?)”, “HR Settlement” and “Drug Laboratory “.

The most interesting feature of the map is linked to the bomb_crater_set file: an “Exterior Movie Set” that seems like the perfect terrain for a sidequest focused on Sinnerman-style content from the base game. The file also includes some prototypes of buildings and areas .

In any case, even assuming that what emerged is real, this is cut content that will never see the light of day in the video game, given that after 3 and a half years from launch, development is finally concluded .
