Cities: Skylines 2 developers will return money to players for the Beach Properties add-on,At the end of March, the Beach Properties add-on was released for the city-planning simulator Cities: Skylines II , which received a mountain of criticism from gamers. Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order decided to respond after almost a month.

The creators of the game apologized to the players and promised to return everyone’s money for the Beach Properties addition. Moreover, the content supplement will soon be made free for everyone, and bonuses for Ultimate Edition owners will be expanded.

However, Ultimate Edition owners will not be able to get their money back for Beach Properties due to the nature of the edition’s distribution in digital and retail stores. In return, the developers of Cities: Skylines II will give owners of the edition 3 Creator Packs and 3 radio stations worth a total of $39.99.

We see and understand the disappointment many of you have expressed following the release of Cities: Skylines II and the recent release of Beach Properties. We asked for your patience and support, and you showed it. In response, we failed you. We thought we could fix the game’s shortcomings in an unrealistic time frame, and rushed to release DLC that should not have been released in its current form. For all this we are sincerely sorry. When we’ve made statements like this in the past, they included a promise to continue to make improvements, and while we’re working on these updates, they’re not coming out at the speed and volume they should, and we’re hurt that we’ve lost the trust of so many of you.

We want to become better.

The new DLC for Cities: Skylines 2 became the worst product on Steam according to user ratings

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order also promised to change the approach to communicating with the audience and supporting the game. First of all, the developers will work on the base game and modifications, and then return to paid DLC.

Due to this decision, the release of the Bridges & Ports add-on was postponed from the fourth quarter of 2024 to 2025. To get Cities: Skylines II right, there will also be a fan group created to take part in the development.

The people included in this group are chosen based on their popularity in the community in order to represent the interests of as many people as possible. The Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive teams will provide them with full transparency and answer any questions or criticisms. We hope that together with you, our community, we can avoid repeating the mistakes of the past and lead this game to a brighter future.

The console version of Cities: Skylines II is also delayed due to optimization difficulties. Initially, they wanted to release the strategy on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this spring, but now the release is expected no earlier than October.

Colossal Order emphasized that a separate team is working on the console versions, which does not belong to the group responsible for the PC version.
