BLACK MYTH WUKONG: 5 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE MONKEY KING’S ADVENTURE IT’S NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
Taking inspiration from our beastly 2-hour test with Black Myth Wukong , we have created a new in-depth video to immerse you in the atmosphere of the new, highly anticipated action RPG from Game Science now about to land on PC and PlayStation 5 (and subsequently on Xbox Series S).
In the company of the good Alessandro Bruni we dive into the settings of Black Myth Wukong to emerge with a now established certainty: the new title from Game Science will draw strong inspiration from Journey to the West, a classic of Chinese literature that tells in a mythologized version the journey made by a Buddhist monk.
The reflection offered to us by the scholar Wu Cheng’en in the literary masterpiece of 1590 takes on decidedly more ‘eventful’ contours in Black Myth, giving us the opportunity to impersonate a warrior who decides to undertake a path of purification and enlightenment, allowing himself to be carried away by his spirit of revenge.
As for the gameplay, the developers themselves specify that Black Myth Wukong is not a soulslike in the strict sense of the term , but rather an action role-playing game that embodies only some nuances of the interactive experience offered by soulsborne and soulslike in general. This does not mean, however, that the title will have a low difficulty level, also because a good part of our two-hour test focused on the boss fights .
Particularly interesting are the ‘magical’ aspects of the gameplay that emerged from our test, with the Monkey King able to perform combat techniques so stratified as to provide numerous transformations, to which are added the specific patterns of attacks on the bladed weapon and based on the use of spells to master during the adventure. And what about the incredible level of graphic detail guaranteed by the use of the latest version of Unreal Engine ?
