Baldur’s Gate 3 mod for Stardew Valley adds new companions
Development of the Stardew Valley modification Baldur’s Village, inspired by Baldur’s Gate 3, continues with new companions. A fan project recently unveiled pixel art for Shadowheart, Laezel, Hulsin, and Gale.
The update also introduces the first look at romance with Astarion, who was the first confirmed character for Baldur’s Village. Judging by one screenshot, there will even be an opportunity to immediately propose to him.
New companions are chosen by the project’s Patreon subscribers, so other characters from Baldur’s Gate 3 still have a chance to get into the game.
Each companion is given significant attention: for each, Stardew Valley-style art is created with different facial expressions, as well as a fully written storyline with dialogue. Of course, this still doesn’t include all the work that went into creating Baldur’s Village itself, since the mod fundamentally changes the base game rather than just adding new content.
The team previously planned to release Baldur’s Village before Baldur’s Gate 3’s first birthday in August. However, the update mentions that one of the developers has left the project, so it’s unclear if that schedule can be maintained. Especially considering the expansion of the mod’s scope to include the addition of characters like Astarion’s siblings and Shadowheart’s parents.
