An artist hand-created Balmora from Morrowind using Unreal Engine 5

Proletarian X, a 3D artist and CG aficionado, has paid tribute to one of the most iconic RPGs of all time, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, by creating a high-quality 3D reconstruction of Balmora, a city where every fan of the series has spent a lot of time.

Inviting outsiders to once again walk the familiar streets and alleys of Vvardenfell’s second largest settlement, Balmora was created as a personal project for the artist. According to Proletarian X’s ArtStation post, the city was made 100% by hand using Maya and ZBrush for modeling, Substance 3D Painter/Designer for texturing and Unreal Engine 5 for rendering, as well as using Nanite and Lumen.

The artist is considering redoing the lighting in the future.
