American chart: Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is the third best-selling game of the month

Analytics firm Circana (formerly NPD Group) has revealed the gaming industry market volumes for January 2024. During this period, a total of $5.1 billion was spent on the gaming market, which is 15% more than January last year.

They spent $4.4 billion on games, DLC and subscriptions, up 15% from last year. Spending on hardware decreased by 4%, to $378 million. The audience spent $246 million on peripherals, an increase of 45%.

The top three best-selling games in January 2024 were Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Tekken 8 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

The biggest release of January by number of players was Palworld, which took the first place in terms of active players on Steam for January 2024 in the United States. On Xbox, the game took third place, behind only Fortnite and Call of Duty.

PS5 became the best-selling platform of January 2024 in both monetary and quantity terms. In second place is Nintendo Switch in quantitative terms and Xbox Series X|S in monetary terms.

Accessories were sold for $246 million, an increase of 45% compared to last year. The best-selling accessory was the DualSense Edge.
