Alone in the Dark reboot received mixed reviews from the press

The day before the release, the embargo on publishing reviews of the survival horror game Alone in the Dark from THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive was lifted. The game receives mixed reviews from the specialized press: some praise the game with restraint, others criticize it mercilessly.

Reviewers write that Alone in the Dark initially intrigues with its atmosphere, interesting story and strong characters performed by David Harbor and Jodie Comer. However, then the game literally falls apart, remaining far from even the original of the early 90s.

Among the shortcomings, journalists included repetitive and annoying puzzles, a weak combat system and stupid AI, as well as an almost complete lack of horror and tension. Some also noted the abundance of bugs, poor performance and a pointless plot.
