A Cities: Skylines player has recreated a Russian village in the outback
Creating a metropolis in Cities: Skylines is commonplace. European cities. Asian cities. Two-story America. Builds inspired by apocalypse and dystopia. All this is expected. However, every now and then, city building simulator players create something truly unique.
An example of this is the recently published selection of screenshots from Redditor Happy_Horse_2218 , who recreated a village in the Russian outback in Cities: Skylines. And he did it very believably. There are even thoughts that he could have used a real-life village as a basis. Maybe someone will recognize it? Here’s what the author says about inspiration:
Much of the build was inspired by a mixture of Chernarus and Metro Exodus. I’ve already made several scenes based on Chernarus, and even tried to create Cherno and Berezino, but that was a long time ago, when I wasn’t that good at CS yet.
The community praised the build, calling it one of the best of all time. And one gamer from Russia even gave an explanation:
As someone who also lived in a small village in Russia, I can say that this is a really good build. It is less like the center of the village and more like places about 3 kilometers away from it. I really enjoy cycling there.
Some are adding in the thread that Colossal Order should be targeting exactly these kinds of features in Cities: Skylines 2, which is still far from reaching its full potential.
