Elden Ring’s first DLC was released on June 21st and has already sold over five million copies, a testament to the great hype surrounding this first expansion for FromSoftware’s game.
If you played Shadow of the Erdtree but didn’t understand the ending, or if you’re just curious about how Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree ends , here’s an explanation of the final stages of the adventure. Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is a difficult game , so if you gave up before the end, here’s what you need to know about the epilogue .
Beyond Belurat
Once we face the Dancing Lion Divine Beast, our progress is blocked by the roots of the Shadow Tree, which obscure a structure above the Belurat settlement. To get rid of this obstacle we are called to eliminate Messmer in the Shadow Keep and use his fuel to burn the shaded branches.
Once this is done, we finally have access to the spiral tower of Enir-Illim , which is the final area of the DLC. In this intricate labyrinth of suspended gardens and stairways we must make our way through the inquisitors, who will try to kill us with candlesticks and spells of light and fire.
Leda’s gang
Once we reach the top of the dungeon, we find the Knight of the Needle Leda , faithful servant of the kind Miquella, willing to do anything to stop us. Based on the choices we have made, we find as our allies in this fight several NPCs including Sir Ansbach and Thiollier.
In this battle, however, we must eliminate not only the knight with the golden hair but also Freyja, the Herald of the Horn, Moore and Dane Fogliamorta, key characters of the adventure who for various reasons choose to side with the protection of the Empyrean. Once the group of brave fighters has been defeated, the time has come to climb the stairs towards the Gateway of Divinity to face the fearsome child.
An unexpected return and a solemn promise
At the top of the tower of Enir Illim, a legendary warrior awaits us, one we have already fought in the red lands of Caelid, General Radahn . Compared to the empty shell we face on the beach in front of the Redmane castle, however, this leonine warrior is young and in full strength, no longer afflicted by the Scarlet Rot disease
At his side is the young Miquella, now his consort. The duel is one of the most difficult in the entire game, merciless and frenetic. Radahn’s mastery of gravitational spells combined with Miquella’s spells and the blood magic of Mohg – whose remains were probably used to resurrect the general – ensure that the fight leaves no margin for error.
While never fighting directly against the physical form of Malenia’s brother, the boss fight makes us understand that we are facing a real God , willing to do anything to create his very personal version of the Golden Order, repudiating what his mother Marika he had built. Once the couple has been defeated, all we have to do is interact with a golden orb that appears in the center of the arena. This golden halo allows us to relive a memory of Miquella in which he states that he will become a god and seems at the same time to beg Radahn to promise him that she will become his consort, so that he can create a better world
Although there are still many details to be explored regarding the lore of Shadow of the Erdtree, one thing is certain: the gentle Miquella is not the quiet boy everyone talks about . His planned expedition to re-establish Marika’s kingdom left him intoxicated with power, leading him down a path that would surely make him the very kind of tyrant he had chosen to repudiate.
