ELDEN RING SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE: DLC STORY AND LORE THE SUMMARY

SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE: DF TESTS THE ELDEN RING DLC AND DOESN’T TELL FROMSOFTWARE

It was just a matter of time. After Digital Foundry’s initial criticism for the optimization of Shadow of the Erdtree , the well-known collective of tech enthusiast journalists publishes the complete video analysis of the Elden Ring expansion which confirms the problems that emerged at a performance level.

From the in-depth analysis of the editors linked to Eurogamer.net, all the critical issues already highlighted by the explorers of the Shadow Lands emerge, both on PC and on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If from a purely gaming point of view the Elden Ring expansion shines both in terms of content and the gameplay experience as an end in itself, it is on the optimization front that FromSoftware once again shows itself vulnerable to controversy.

In fact, the Digital Foundry team wonders why the designers following Hidetaka Miyazaki were not able to take advantage of the community’s feedback and the work done with the post-launch patches of Elden Ring. From the drops in framerate of the graphics modes on consoles and the most resource-hungry PC settings to the ‘dancer’ frametime on PlayStation and Xbox , passing through the obvious problems encountered in the fluidity when moving from dungeons to open world areas, DF experts believe that the Japanese software house should have put more effort into ensuring more stable performance and greater optimization.

In the video analysis, DF also reports that the new Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree patch has not improved the situation, while guaranteeing a less frustrating gaming experience for those who considered it too difficult to approach the challenges offered by the expansion of the blockbuster FromSoftware: the Digital Foundry’s (and not only’s) hope is therefore to see the launch of one or more updates as soon as possible that can resolve the critical issues identified in optimization and performance on PC and console.
