During an interview with Rolling Stone, Hidetaka Miyazaki said that he would like to work on a traditional jRPG , but that it doesn’t have to do with franchises like King’s Field or Enchanted Arms, works that in his opinion are too tied to other developers.
We are talking about titles created by FromSoftware in 1994 and 2006 respectively, which therefore fall within the catalog of the Japanese studio but which, as the creator of Dark Souls and Elden Ring explained, have a very precise authorial characterization.
“I think a lot of these games are too tied to their game directors, who almost invented that style,” Miyazaki said. “I don’t think there’s a scenario where I would work on an episode of King’s Field myself, and the same can be said for Enchanted Arms.”
Armored Core? Maybe yes
However, there is one exception: Armored Core . Hidetaka Miyazaki collaborated in the creation of Last Raven and other episodes of the series, and consequently feels that universe as something that somehow belongs to him, and which he would gladly try his hand at again.
” I worked on Armored Core 4 and Armored Core: For Answer ,” explained the Japanese game director. “This experience allowed me to insert my interpretation into Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon and develop it.”
Is there therefore the possibility that Miyazaki will resume this path in the future , giving the Armored Core series an even more particular and evocative approach, in line with his other works? Still too early to tell.
For the moment it is rather a case of celebrating the launch of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, available starting today on PC, PlayStation and Xbox .
