Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance defeated the competition in the United Kingdom where it took first place, beating the likes of EA Sports FC 24 and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Like every week, the ranking of the best-selling games in the UK in retail format has arrived . This time we find at the top Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance , the re-release of the popular Atlus JRPG which apparently was highly anticipated by players on PlayStation and Xbox.

Unfortunately we do not have precise data on the numbers recorded by the title on each platform. We know for sure that PC copies are not included in the count, given that the ranking does not take into account digital sales, but it would have been interesting to discover sales on Nintendo Switch, where the game was previously available exclusively. It must be said that those who already own the 2021 original are basically forced to purchase a new copy from scratch to access the numerous contents introduced, given that they are not available in the form of updates, upgrades or paid DLC, in line with the well Atlus’s well-known and little-appreciated policy on re-releases has already been seen in the past for games in the Persona series.

The pace of exits drops

As strange as it is to see a JRPG from a series considered “niche” in first position, we must consider the fact that as per tradition the pace of new game releases has slowed down substantially as summer approaches and so there is little news. In fact, with the exception of Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance there isn’t even a game released in June among the top forty positions in the British rankings. All this without taking anything away from Atlus’ latest effort which, as also explained in our review , is back in stores with a great re-release.
