Has Nintendo Switch 2 been postponed to March 2025? According to a journalist, this is not actually the case, in the sense that the release date has always been for this spring and never for the end of 2024.
Nintendo Switch 2 (unofficial name of the big N’s next console) has not been revealed and therefore does not have a release date at the moment. Over the months, however, its arrival has been talked about several times and some rumors have even suggested that the platform had been postponed.
It was said that it was initially scheduled for the end of 2024, but that the Kyoto company then decided or had to postpone it to spring 2025 . Now, however, opposing opinions are arriving.
The latest on the release of Nintendo Switch 2
As you can see through the tweets you see below, a journalist from RPGSite, Gamesradar and Nintendoins stated that – without obviously sharing the details so as not to endanger the source – during the Summer Game Fest it was revealed to him that “Switch 2 had always aiming for a release in March 2025.”
Without sharing the specifics of how/why, during SGF I was explicitly told by someone who would've known that Switch 2 was always targetting a March 2025 release date. It makes me wonder what was up with the rumors it was delayed, and what Nintendo has planned for this holiday.

The journalist then wonders where the rumors of the postponement come from and what Nintendo has planned for the end of 2024 ( we will find out today at 4pm in the Nintendo Direct ).
Furthermore, in a second tweet he responds to another user who states that “there was a guy who said he had worked with several publishers during previous releases and in his experience Nintendo always waited until the last minute to confirm the exact plans of launch”.
It sure sounds like devs tentatively scheduled stuff assuming Switch 2 this Fall, and when they got the confirmed release timing folks that didn't know Fall was never confirmed assumed a delay. https://t.co/QnPE1ws1io

The journalist therefore assumes that it was the developers who assumed that Nintendo Switch 2 would arrive this autumn and that when it was confirmed that this was not the case, they assumed that it was a postponement.
Obviously, talking back when a product hasn’t been announced isn’t exactly correct, but for simplicity’s sake let’s consider them as ” internal references “.
