FROM JUST CAUSE TO GTA: 5 EXPLOSIVE GAMES TO HAVE FUN WREAKING HAVOC
There are many video games coming out in 2024 that could surprise us , but our game library is full of titles that deserve to be rediscovered to live truly ‘explosive’ experiences. If you love free roaming video games focused on chaos, here are five titles that are right for you!
Broforce
Marketed under the aegis of Devolver Digital, Broforce is an acrobatic horizontal scrolling shooter that draws heavily from the cinematic universes of Hollywood’s most iconic action films, placing everything in a run ‘n gun context full of bad guys to send into orbit to the sound of pyrotechnic explosions.
Each ‘Bro’ reinterpretation of the heroes of genre films and TV series from the 70s, 80s and 90s boasts its own equipment and a specific set of gadgets and special abilities, thanks to which you can unleash chaos among the enemy lines whether alone or in the company of a friend, with tons of environments to explore… and a hell of bullets to dodge.
Besiege
Having become a real cult among fans of explosion-oriented video games, the original simulation/management sandbox by Spiderling Studios puts us in the shoes of a medieval engineer called to build increasingly devastating war machines to demolish enemy structures and spread the panic among the enemy ranks.
In addition to the pyrotechnic explosions and the chaos managed by the excellent physics engine integrated by the developers, the real strength of Besiege is the excellent editor which allows us to create increasingly unusual and deadly machinery by drawing on a large catalog of self-propelled structures and murderous tools such as rotary blades, spikes, cannons, catapults and cluster bombs.
Just Cause 4
The Just Cause open world shooter series has always been synonymous with explosions , and the fourth chapter fully responds to fans’ desires. The odyssey experienced by the emulators of special agent Rico Rodriguez is a concentration of explosions, between structures that collapse under the blows inflicted by our alter-ego and hosts of enemies with the survival instinct of a camel in Greenland.
Just Cause 4 is therefore the art of destruction , as well as one of the most iconic and representative exponents of this particular type of video game experience that puts the narrative component aside to focus almost exclusively on the fun offered by chaos as an end in itself.

GTA 5
Among the many qualities that make Grand Theft Auto 5 one of the most successful video games in the history of the digital entertainment industry, the more ‘explosive’ and chaotic side of its gameplay system certainly stands out. Both during the main campaign starring Michael, Trevor and Franklin and in the kaleidoscope of modes accessible from GTA Online’s multiplayer sergers, destruction is a fundamental component of the fun brought back to the screen by the blockbuster Rockstar Games.
It’s true, in the first record-breaking trailer for GTA 6 there isn’t much space for explosions, but that doesn’t mean that the Big R doesn’t intend to once again tread on the chaos button as an end in itself to multiply the fun returned to fans of the series.
Teardown
Despite its minimalist and ‘Minecraft-style’ graphics, Teardown hides an extremely profound experience for lovers of ‘wreck-it’ video games, thanks to the complex voxel art graphics and physics engine that manages to perfectly manage the devastation guaranteed by the numerous explosives and the many objects that allow you to destroy every single element of the map.
