Let’s find out more about the long-awaited Italian horror game Aftermath in our interview from Cortocircuito
During our most recent episode of Cortocircuito we had the chance to discover more about the long-awaited Italian horror game Aftermath. Let’s see what we know about it.
Italy is increasingly focused on video games and the creators of the Bel Paese are increasingly showcasing quality games, worthy of global attention. We at Multiplayer.it , with our Cortocircuito, have used this announcement period to give a little more space to upcoming Italian games.
In the video that you can find just below, we offer you our interview with two members of the Aftermath team , ONE-O-ONE GAMES. Let’s talk about Violetta Leoni and Gianluca Nardis.
Our interview dedicated to Aftermath
First of all let’s remember that Aftermath is a horror game that will put us in the shoes of Charlie Gray, engineer and astronaut. The woman, having returned to Earth, is kidnapped by a drug cartel, she loses an arm and, once free, also custody of her daughter, Sammy. The game begins when Charlie wakes up alone in a broken world and all she wants is to find her daughter. The mother-daughter relationship will be an important component of the video game.

In the interview Leoni explains that the game, at the moment, is in development with Unreal Engine 5 (the team was also among the first ten in the world to gain access to the engine patch when it was published), while videos and images available online come from the previous version, which was still run by Unreal Engine 4. We cannot therefore visually judge the video game based on the old materials as they are not in the slightest representative of what the game has become.
It is also specified that the character’s face that we see in the trailer is not the one actually used for the character at this time. Charlie’s face model is Simona Tabasco, also famous outside Italy for example for her roles in The White Lotus and Immaculate.
Leoni then explains that the protagonist of Aftermath is missing an arm and that to create the character they relied directly on a person without an arm who taught the team how to animate the characters and how to carry out a whole series of actions in the game faithfully and credible.
Furthermore, the woman suffers from PTSD where what happened to her and for the creation of the character the team was supported by an author who suffers from this very disorder. Speaking of PTSD, Leoni also explains that Hellblade was a reference point to take into consideration, but that Aftermath approaches the issue differently.
Aftermath – The announcement trailer
In terms of gameplay we can expect an action game, with shooter mechanics, stealth game and exploratory elements, even if they couldn’t reveal how the maps will be structured.
In the rest of the interview you can also find many interesting comments from our guests , who talk not only about Aftermath but also about the videogame market more generally, the difficulties in proposing a video game to a publisher and the great competition.
