Wizard with a Gun development studio closed due to low sales
The Wizard with a Gun development studio closed its doors, due to the game’s poor sales which did not allow it to sustain itself.
Galvanic Games, the development studio behind Wizard with a Gun, has announced its closure . The news was delivered by president and founder Patrick Morgan, who spoke of the impossibility of supporting the studio with sales of the game, despite initially promising data. The studio’s employees will be helped in finding a new position
Unsustainable situation
“It is with deep regret that I announce the closure of Galvanic Games.” Morgan began in his farewell message, and then continued. “Despite Wizard with a Gun’s promising start, sales have not been enough to sustain our studio. The last year has been particularly tough for the video game industry. While we’ve had several encouraging talks at DICE and GDC , the time required to sign new projects, even in a better year, is more than we could afford.
Wizard with a Gun – Devolver Digital Showcase 2023 Gameplay Trailer
Working with Devolver Digital has been a dream for us . Together, we created a game that I’m incredibly proud of. There’s a certain bittersweet realization in knowing that we’ve accomplished all the goals we set out to do when we founded Galvanic in 2015. From launching unique, strange, and interesting games to collaborating with some of my favorite people in the industry, all while building a close-knit and productive team focused on a healthy and creative culture.
However, it is incredibly tough to see our team having to deal with the uncertainty of today’s job market. It’s hard not to see the irony that I spent a decade building my ideal team, only to see it end after our most productive year. The dedication, creativity and hard work of every person on our team has been nothing short of extraordinary.”
The message ends with the usual thanks to all those who supported Galvanic. Too bad, Devolver Digital’s latest statements on Wizard with a Gun predicted a very different future for Galvanic.
